Randolph-Macon College applicants are always considered for merit-based scholarships during the application review process; no extra materials are required! Merit scholarships start at $23,000 a year. These awards are renewable for up to four years, provided the recipient continues to meet academic benchmarks, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards, and are enrolled full-time at RMC.
For families with two or more siblings at the College. New recipients of the Family Grant may receive up to $1,500 per year/per family as long as two or more siblings are concurrently enrolled full-time. You will indicate your status on your application to RMC.
Alumni Legacy Grants in the amount of $1,500 are offered to entering students with the following legacy connection to the college: father or mother, brother or sister, aunt or uncle, or grandfather or grandmother who previously attended the college. You will indicate your legacy status on your application.
This money, which supplement federal and state aid for students, is awarded annually based upon level of financial need. Satisfactory academic progress (SAP) and continued evidence of need are required for renewal.
Students who are referred to the College receive a grant of up to $1,000 per year in honor of the referrer. Admission is required, and not guaranteed for any student referred.
Thanks to generous donors throughout the College’s history, Randolph-Macon awards hundreds of scholarships and grants to individuals who meet specific criteria, typically tied to a course of study or extra-curricular specialization. The A. Purnell Bailey Pre-Ministerial Program for Ordained Ministry is designed for students who are discerning a vocation in Christian ministry. Students selected receive half-tuition scholarships for the first two years and full-tuition scholarships for the next two years.
Randolph-Macon College offers Army ROTC through the Spider Battalion, headquartered at the nearby University of Richmond. Scholarships for full tuition, plus additional stipends, are awarded to applicants who have demonstrated their attributes as a scholar, athletes, and leaders. Convergence is a summer program for high school students that explores the convergence of faith and science. Participants of the program earn a scholarship to RMC, totaling $1,000.
The $3 million gift from the estate of Dr. Wornom, a 1937 RMC alumnus, provides pre-medical scholarships to two incoming freshmen each year. Wornom Fellows are expected to apply to medical school and will pursue research projects, complete internships and shadowing opportunities, and work closely with faculty members and their pre-medical advisor.
The Jackson Fellowship awards scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 per year to students who plan to major in chemistry. Students must be the recipient of a merit-based Presidential Scholarship and are selected by the chemistry department based on their performance on a chemistry placement exam.
Dependents of ministers serving the Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will receive grants equal to one-third of tuition. Recipients may also qualify for other types of aid based on demonstrated need.
Note: The maximum total of all Randolph-Macon College non-need-based awards (i.e., Dean’s Award, Presidential Scholarships, Trustee Scholarships, family grants, legacy grants, minister’s family grants, and pre-ministerial grants, plus TAG may not exceed tuition. Completion of Eligibility form required.
Student performers are eligible for special scholarships that help enable their participation in our rich performing arts community. Students may audition for a scholarship in one (or more) of the following disciplines: voice, instrument, technical theatre, acting, and/or show choir. A major in music or theatre is not required to participate, and selected students earn a yearly scholarship of $1,000.
Students who are preparing for full-time church-related vocations in churches or denominations approved by the college after graduation are eligible to receive grants equal to one-half of tuition. Students may not combine this award with the A. Purnell Bailey Pre-Ministerial Scholarship or a RMC Academic Scholarship. Completion of Eligibility form required.
This benefit is available to Virginia residents who are attending private colleges in Virginia and is highly recommended for every Virginian! The TAG grant current amount is $5,000. Application deadline: July 31. Apply at www.schev.edu.
For students who have received an Associate’s degree at a Virginia two-year public institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and federally calculated EFC of $12,000 or less. Students complete an application at www.schev.edu. The maximum annual standard award is $1,000. There is an additional $1,000 for students enrolled in a degree program in: science, teaching, engineering, mathematics, or nursing.
The Federal Pell Grant is a federal need-based grant for undergraduate students that have not earned a bachelor’s, graduate or professional degree. Eligibility is confirmed upon receipt of the FAFSA and Verification documents. The Award is renewable based on the federally calculated expected family contribution and satisfactory academic progress toward a degree. Amounts can change yearly and students must file the FAFSA each year. Federal law limits the amount you may receive over your lifetime. The amount is limited to be the equivalent of six years of Pell Grant funding.
This is a campus-based program that provides grant assistance to needy, Pell grant eligible, students at the discretion of the college. The average award is around $1,000 annually. SEOG Grants do not have to be repaid.
The Federal TEACH Grant Program provides up to $4000 a year to students who agree to serve for at least four years as a full time teacher in a high-need field in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. A TEACH Grant recipient who does not complete the required teaching within a specified time frame, or fails to meet certain other requirements will be required to repay the TEACH Grant as a Direct Unsubsidized Loan under the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program.
If you have decided that you wish to participate in the TEACH Grant Program, it will be necessary for you to sign the Agreement to Serve AND complete the Teach Grant counseling session.
Through the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, a provision of the Post 9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Act of 2008.
The Yellow Ribbon Program allows degree-granting institutions to enter into a voluntary annual agreement with the Veterans Administration (VA) to fund tuition and mandatory fee expenses. The institution can contribute up to 50% of those expenses, and VA will match the same amount as the institution. Randolph-Macon will offer up to $5,000 per year in grant aid which will be matched by the the Department of Veterans Affairs to those eligible at the 100% VA benefit level. Eligible students must provide the Financial Aid Office with a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility from the Veterans Administration.
