It's no secret that a college education can be a big investment. But you may be surprised that OWU provides an average of more than $45,000 in scholarships and aid per student. And we enrich your classroom learning with personal attention and real-world experiences that employers crave.
99% of OWU students received merit-based and/or need-based financial aid.
We are able to award more than $15 million a year in financial aid, because our alumni give back so new generations of students can benefit from the same life-changing OWU education they enjoyed.
OWU offers merit scholarships ranging from $15,000 to full-tuition. Explore our merit scholarship program for more details about the award(s) for which you may qualify.
Our Admission and Financial Aid staff will work with you personally to consider every form of aid for which you may be eligible. Many families have questions about the FAFSA - The Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is a form completed by families of high school seniors living in the U.S. (and current U.S.) students to determine their eligibility for federal financial aid to help afford college tuition.
If you're applying to OWU as a new U.S. student, remember to file the FAFSA by May 1. (This is a suggested filing date and NOT a deadline.) Filing by this date will also qualify you for the $1,000 FAFSA filer award.
I know what the FAFSA is, I'm ready to complete the form. (Include OWU's Title IV Code 003109)
I would like to know more about the FAFSA before I start.
Additionally, you may use our Net Price Calculator (NPC) to estimate your out-of-pocket cost for an Ohio Wesleyan education over four years. This tool is intended for domestic first-time, first-year, or transfer students. Keep in mind, this is purely an estimate and is only as reliable as the data you enter.
For further information or questions about need-based financial aid, contact the Office of Financial Aid at 740-368-3050 or financialaid@owu.edu.
All admitted students are considered for a range of merit scholarships, most of which start at $20,000. We reward students for academic performance, community service, achievement in the arts, and more. Scholarships are available for students pursuing STEM degrees, Life and Eagle Scouts, and students who want to be in Marching Band or OWU's new Esports program.
The Alumni Referral Award is a $4,000 award ($1,000 per year) given to students who have been referred to OWU by alumni. Referrals must be received by December 15 of the student's senior year of high school.
OWU celebrates the courage, character, and life of Dr. Charles Thomas, Class of 1905, with a scholarship for students who have participated in a college access program during high school. For those selected as Charles Thomas Scholars, OWU will meet 100 percent of demonstrated financial need - as determined by the FAFSA - for all four years. The deadline to apply is March 1.
