Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation

Our scholarship program encourages talented female students (high school seniors and current college/university students) to continue their higher education and ultimately help Michigan become the No. 1 state for girls and women in technology.

In 2023, our MCWT scholar class included 44 recipients; those scholarships had a value of $196,200. Since 2002, MCWT has awarded $1.7 million in scholarships to empower 360 women.

Eligibility Requirements*:

  • United States citizen
  • Current Michigan resident
  • Female students with a GPA of 2.75 or better
  • Must be pursuing a tech-related degree for the 2024-25 academic year
  • Enrolled (or will be enrolled) full-time in a Michigan college, community college or university

* To qualify, applicants must be enrolled in a full-time associate, undergraduate or graduate degree program in Michigan. All applicants must be able to provide documentation showing they meet these requirements.

We award scholarships and grants to women pursuing technology careers

Annual awards, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 with a possibility of renewal, are awarded to high school seniors and undergraduate, or graduate, college students.  MCWT engagement is a consideration, but not a requirement, for scholarship decisions.  Scholarship recipients are welcome to apply for renewal in subsequent years. In addition to the financial support, scholarship recipients receive a mentor for the scholarship period and assistance finding a related internship opportunity.

Qualified majors/degree programs

Each applicant must be enrolled during the grant period in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program in a major such as Information Systems, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, and Data Science. This is not a complete list but rather serves to provide examples. Applicants must maintain program requirements and will be subject to verification.

There will be two virtual Scholarship Application Drop-In Help Sessions that will occur on two dates: Tuesday, December 19, 2023 and Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024. Both meetings will be conducted from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and are meant to provide students with assistance completing the application.

Please contact [email protected] with any questions/concerns.
